Compared to previous occasions, where Germany always had a rocky start and knocked out of the tournament in early stage, everything stacked in favour of the hosts in this year's ENC2008 Grand final at Game Convention in Leipzig, Germany.
Their initial opponent in the first round Russia, who had all it takes to make a difference this year, had to hand Denmark the place due to visa problem. Facing an inferior team instead, Germany had a flying start with a 3-0 win and they seemed to have hit their stride after a following 3-0 win over Finland and progressed to the final for the first time.
The holders kept their grip on the trophy and booked ENC2008 final meeting with Germany after edging Sweden in a 3-2 thriller in the consolation final. Wins from Johannes 'hanf' Morlo and Daniel 'TryDying' Zuzanski gave the Germans 2-0 lead in the final, but Samu 'BriNGeR' Riihelä and their 2v2 team leveled the score for the Finland. EPS defending champion XlorD broke the deadlock with a comfortable win over elfittaja and brought home the prestigious ENC trophy as well as a prize cheque for €5,000.
Final standing

2nd - Finland €2,500-
3rd - Sweden €1,500-
