SK take out the crazy Koreans
Written by immo in coverage 2 months ago (56 comments) | Tagged in: wcg2008 SK eSTRO
The second intensely tight match for SK Gaming today just finished, as they eSTRO on three maps. This sends eSTRO down to play the third place decider tomorrow while SK Gaming will go up against either mTw or CBTEAM in the grand final.

Team eSTRO has been impressive throughout the entire tournament, defeating everyone in the so-called group of death on Thursday (MYM, mibr) as well as dominating Tek9 and k23 in the play-offs. They just got stopped dead in their tracks by SK Gaming in an amazing match that was played for over two hours.

Three maps were played, where eSTRO seemed to be the stronger team on the first side on de_train leading with 13-2 but SK Gaming started a great comeback as Counter-Terrorists but still lost the map 12-16 in the end. Shortly after the second map was played being de_dust2 where both teams seemed to struggle today against weaker teams, being Just against SK and Tek9 against eSTRO.

Both teams played a good first half with SK leading 10-5 on the Terrorist side when they switched. Very close rounds were exchanged until SK managed to get their last round leading to the deciding third map, being de_nuke. SK started well on the Counter-Terrorist side giving eSTRO a hard time with their money management but eSTRO were able to take 5 Terrorist rounds which can be very good on this map.

It looked very good for SK after the pistol round as they won the round but eSTRO played a great eco and won the second round forcing SK to save themselves. SK played a great Terrorist side with some great tactics, taking down the crazy Koreans and advance to the grand final of the World Cyber Games.

The grand final is scheduled for tomorrow at 14:30 CET where SK will meet either CBTEAM or mTw who are still playing right now. eSTRO will take on the loser of mTw/CBTEAM for the 3rd place decider after the grand final.
