Serious Gaming has decided to pull out of all team leagues effective immediately. The reason for Serious Gaming's missed TGL game yesterday has been made painfully clear in a statement issued by the team's manager, Zerter. The Serious Gaming organisation decided that it can no longer afford to compete in team-based leagues.
Zerter said that "after three years of participating in team competitions with various degrees of success we've come to the conclusion the gains no longer outweigh the costs."
However, the Dutchman went on to say last night that the team will not be completely dissolved: "We will not disband but focus solely on the solo results of our players."
Today, Zerter told SK Gaming that the players to be retained by Serious are Rotterdam and DowaQ. The popular Dutch player, RotterdaM, has been in the team for over a year and his inclusion is no surprise. His compatriot was also fairly predictable, although many will be disappointed to see the loss of players such as Dollar, Neytpoh and Kowi.
The strain of a Warcraft III team has been well documented over recent months. The Serious Gaming situation appears to be another case of the demands of a multi-continental squad being too much.
